Current Research

I am working on an independent research project entitled Beyond the Mortal Eye: exploring environmental change and the impermanence of landscapes through sound.

This practice-led project aims to use sounds of geological and atmospheric processes – the sonic ambiances of Earth systems – to explore the dynamism of landscapes, processes of environmental change, and atmospheric experience of the concept of deep time.

The initial practice-based investigation – a sound installation entitled Beyond the Mortal Eye – is available to experience as an online version.

A paper introducing this project and its aims will be published in the proceedings for the 4th International Congress on Ambiances in December 2020, and will be presented, alongside the installation, at the online conference.
